We all have bad days. We all have days where we feel rubbish in ourselves. Of course we do, because we are human! Yes, some days are worse/better than others and everyone experiences these feelings in different ways. But the point is EVERYONE is experiencing it.
I've realised I can only be my true self around a small number of people and this is due to my level of confidence and this 'need' to be accepted. I sometimes find myself trying to change parts of who am I in hope of fitting in. When in reality we shouldn't be changing ourselves for others benefits anyway.
My confidence can affect a lot of things. It affects how I feel about myself on the inside and outside as well as how I see myself. For some reason we are FAR too critical of ourselves and this is why we struggle to fully accept ourselves for who we are. Because we are good enough and we need to remember that.
My confidence also affects how I THINK people see me or how I want them to see me. This seems to be a reaction from the lack of self esteem/self worth that many people battle with. But why are we worried what people think of us? Why do we care so much? Why is it that we try so hard to change ourselves that we end up losing our identity? Why don't we value ourselves in the way that we should? There are so many unanswered questions but I know that one helpful step is to try and feel confident in ourselves.
What I find helps me:
Waking up and FULLY getting ready everyday, even if I have no where to go. This means, making the bed, putting on make up, doing my hair and dressing in PROPER clothing not just 'comfy' clothes. I have found that making an effort daily helps me to value myself a lot more.
Only wearing clothes that make me feel good and that I feel good in.
Taking my dog for a walk once a day.
Following certain celebrities that show their REAL side. Now I have to admit, I do follow the Kardashians and other glamorous celebrities on social media as I find their lives interesting. But I don't always find it to be good for me. Which is why I also follow celebrities who show their real human side (and I STRONGLY recommend that you look into these people). These are: @jameelajamilofficial @lizzobeeating @missmalinsara @gracefvictory @jess_megan_ @molliecampsie @theslumflower @megan_rose_lane @taylahroberts1 @charlihoward @chrissyteigen and of course @chessiekingg (all instagram)
I hadn't realised how important it is to remember that celebrities are still just ordinary people who are living extraordinary lives.
I'm still going through the process of accepting myself and I've come such a long way! The truth is most people are just as lost and confused as you are! There is no perfect life or perfect person because perfection does not exist. We just have to keep encouraging each other to stay true to who we are because who we are is FABULOUS and in time we may just find the confidence we wish for.
